Durable movement infrastructure is a long-term goal for Atkinson. That’s why we provide multi-year funding to help stabilize or add organizational capacity to different types of movement builders:
Base builders who have constituencies to whom they are accountable and who organize and mobilize them to use their individual power collectively.
Case builders who generate evidence, crafting strategic arguments, and equipping advocates with the tools to shift public debate.
Community builders who provide legal support, housing assistance, worker protections, food security, civic education, and other services that address immediate needs; they are essential place-based infrastructure.
Capacity builders who are anchor institutions within movements like foundations, unions, and governments, and field builders who work within and across sectors.
