In an open letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, child care advocates from across Canada are encouraging bold action on child care including:

• Establishing a federal secretariat on child care
• Making the establishment and expansion of a pan-Canadian child care system a budget priority for the short and long term
• Continuing the ongoing implementation of the Indigenous early learning and child care framework agreement.

Atkinson’s CEO Colette Murphy is one of over 70 signatories, along with partners including: Carolyn Ferns (Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care),  Bernice McLeod (Atkinson Centre),  Alana Powell (Association of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario), Jim Stanford (Centre for Future Work), and Armine Yalnizyan (Atkinson Fellow on the Future of Workers).
