Over the last 9 months of the COVID-19 pandemic, the depths of systemic racism in Canada have been exposed over and over again. Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour have faced continued discrimination and police brutality, while also facing disproportionate health and economic impacts of the pandemic and economic crisis.
Additionally, since January 2020, people of Asian descent in Canada have been speaking out on growing anti-Asian racism due to scapegoating and misinformation associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the Chinese Canadian National Council – Toronto Chapter, project 1907, Chinese Canadian National Council for Social Justice, and Vancouver Asian Film Festival have released the results of their collaboration on data collection tracking anti-Asian racism.
