ECEs Rising Up

As Ontario is the last province or territory to sign an agreement with the federal government for a national child care system, the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario and the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care are continuing their advocacy to make sure an agreement will address their issues.

To launch their Rising Up: A Workforce at Breaking Point campaign, they’ve released an open letter with over 1500 signatures,  calling on both levels of government for an agreement that includes:

  • a  fair salary grid
  • decent work standards including paid planning time and paid sick leave
  • pathways for acquiring and upgrading qualifications, particularly in rural, remote, and marginalized communities

They also include responses from workers and supporters on what they want  governments to know  when negotiating the agreement on how they’ve been affected by the child care sector’s workforce crisis.

Read the letter and stories here.
