
John Lorinc is a Toronto freelance journalist, editor and ghostwriter. He specializes in cities, climate and technology. Lorinc has contributed to numerous national and local publications including The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, Spacing Magazine, Walrus, Canadian Business, Reader’s Digest, and the New York Times. He is the author of four books, including Dream States (2022), which won the Writers’ Trust Balsillie Prize for Public Policy and the Pattis Family Foundation Global Cities Book Award. Lorinc has also edited or co-edited seven Coach House Toronto anthologies, including The Ward (2015) and House Divided (2019). As the 2019-2020 Atkinson Fellow in Public Policy, John Lorinc took a deep dive into the politics and governance of smart city technology.
